The 15th Annual Wharf Rat Rally is set to kick off in Digby from August 28 to September 1.
Organizers of the rally hopes attendance records will match previous years, and Executive Director Laura Simmons says hotels in Digby are all booked and she expects 4 thousand to 6 thousand motorcycles on any given day.
“Saturday is our busiest day,” she said, “In 2017, we had 17,933 people approximately in Digby alone.”
74 per cent of rally goers come from Nova Scotia.
For the second year, organizers will take the festivities to youngsters who might otherwise not be able to take part through its Give a Kid a Ride project.
Simmons recalls one young boy last year who almost missed his ride because he was too nervous.
“Finally the little guy got on the bike, and when he got off the bike, he was walking around with his head up and his chest out like he had just climbed Mount Everest,” she said.
The Ride is Thursday, August 8th with a rain date of Friday, August 9th and begins at the Day Camp on Westwood Street in Kingston at 10am
