RCMP are once again warning to people to be careful what they share online after a 12-year-old Yarmouth girl was blackmailed into sending nude photos to a stranger.
The girl was chatting with someone she didn’t know on a social media platform when the person asked her to send intimate images and videos.
She sent the photos but then blocked the person.
Someone in her contact list says they were contacted by the same person who said if the girl didn’t send more photos he would share the ones he already had with her contacts.
The girl sent more.
She was then contacted by someone else who claimed to have her photos and also threatened to share them if she didn’t send more.
This time she blocked the person and informed her parent about what had happened.
The incident was reported to RCMP July 21.
RCMP are warning people to be careful who they communicate with over social media and to be careful about sharing images.
Police continue to investigate.
