Feed Nova Scotia and High Liner Foods in Lunenburg are hoping to stretch donation dollars by two.
Financial donations made to Feed Nova Scotia today will be matched by the frozen seafood processor to a total of $10,000.
Donations drop significantly in the summer, according to Feed Nova Scotia.
The charity provided 10 agencies on the South Shore with 117,000 kilograms of food last year – enough for an estimated 250,000 meals.
Usually, a $20 donation means Feed Nova Scotia can distribute food for 30 meals to food banks, shelters and meal programs across the province.
That will stretch to 60 meals with help from the public.
At least 42,000 Nova Scotians were supported by food banks last year.
There are three ways to have donations matched: by donating online at feednovascotia.ca, by phone at (902) 457-1900 or in-person at 67 Wright Avenue in Dartmouth.
