It’s the end of an era in Bridgewater.
After 22 years in operation, Town’s End Strings and Things on North Street is closing their doors.
The store opened in 1997 by Bert and Beth Townsend.
Their daughter became co-owner in 2013 after Bert’s death, making it the only female owned music store east of Montreal.
Beth Townsend says her daughter is moving out west and it’s time for her to retire.
“I will never lose that wonderful feeling of a young person buying their first instrument. That, I am going to miss.”
She commends people in the town for being friendly, warming and supporting them.
Townsend says she was proud to have their own property on North Street.
“We designed the store ourselves and watched it being built and actually every single person involved in building the store was a musician.”
The store will close for good Saturday at 5 p.m.
