All eyes were on major bantam and midget hockey players over the weekend in Hammonds Plains.
The East Coast Ice Jam was held at the BMO Centre and featured talented teens from across Atlantic Canada.
Head Coach and General Manager of the South Shore Junior ‘A’ Lumberjacks, Kyle MacAllister, says staff watched several games to find future draft picks.
“It gives us a good head start on different opinions from different eyes to be able to identify the players that we’re going to target come draft time and put our list together.”
MacAllister says scouting the tournament has paid off with the team steadily improving over the last few seasons.
“I like the shape that we’re in with the players that we have in the stable and ready to step-in next year. We have a good hockey team for the remainder of this year.”
The Maritime Hockey League Draft will be held in Edmundston, New Brunswick in June.
