Not everyone is thrilled with the plans for a new store in Bridgewater.
Gows Home Hardware and Furniture stores are working to combine their operations at new location on Dominion Street.
Council has approved construction of the new location, but as part of the approval process, the public has two weeks to appeal.
Bridgewater Town Council will hold a special session tonight to hear an appeal from a neighbouring resident who is being impacted by the construction.
In a letter to council from their lawyer, the homeowners say they have been unable to open their windows or go outside due to construction dust.
They also raised concerns around pooling water and that vibrations could affect their foundation.
Mayor David Mitchell would like to see the two sides work this out.
“Council will have to hear what the issues are from the resident, and with Home Hardware there, hopefully, it’s something they can address together.”
Mitchell says the town could take a mediation role if necessary and wants to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
“I would expect that council will make a decision tonight. I don’t want to either hold up construction or not have closure for the citizen who’s made the appeal.
The special session will get underway at 7:00pm.
