Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, which means it’s time to raise money for a good cause.
CKBW and Country 100.7 are broadcasting live from the South Shore Regional Hospital tomorrow for the eighth annual Radiothon.
The event has partnered with Health Services Foundation of the South Shore to raise money for medical equipment.
Alison Clements with the Foundation says after tomorrow’s fundraiser, they will have raised almost $1 million.
“You know, we might not be the biggest population but we do care about local and we do care about local health care so we don’t have to travel everywhere for doctor’s appointments.”
Clements says doctors and technicians will be on hand to talk about what they’ve been able to do with equipment from fundraisers like these.
She says the fundraiser brings a joy to the hospital.
“And talk to the people who you wouldn’t just see in the hallways every day,” she says.
“So it’s really neat [and] truly a fundraiser that does bring everyone together.”
To date the Radiothon has raised $740,000 for equipment like Cardiac Monitors, Mobile X-RayUnit and Operating Room Equipment.
This year’s funding is allocated for a new ultrasound machine.
