The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax received a mayday call from a fishing vessel in distress off the coast of South Western Nova Scotia last night.
The boat was 73 nautical miles south west of Clark’s Harbour.
The vessel, with three people aboard, had all lost power.
Major Amber Bineau of Joint Task Force Atlantic says the call came in at about 8:40pm.
“JRCC Halifax had no further response from that vessel, so the 413th Squadron launched a C-130 Hercules and a Cormorant in addition to the Canadian Coast Guard dispatching the ‘Clark’s Harbour’.
Bineau says the Hercules crew lowered a hand-held portable radio to the fishing vessel.
The Hercules and the Cormorant returned to base and the Clark’s Harbour towed the fishing boat into port.
No one was injured.
