A King Street business owner is grateful fire departments were so quick to respond to the fire Monday morning.
Up Till Dawn party supply store owner Dawn Whynot was able to open early Monday, but it’s not just about business for Whynot, she had a personal interest in the fire.
Her daughter was on scene with Oak Hill Fire Department.
“Oh my god my store, am I one that is involved in this or not,” was her initial reaction when her daughter told her about the fire.
“I feel sorry for the ones that were involved.”
Whynot had plugged her phone in to charge, so it was until she checked her messages she knew anything was happening.
“She tried to get ahold of me and said, ‘mom, there’s a fire, you might want to get down and check your store.’”
Whynot didn’t lose any revenue because of the fire and wants to send her gratitude to the fire departments around Lunenburg County.
