One man managed to stack the deck in his favour at the Awesome Foundation meeting last night.
Allan Carver pitched three of the four ideas being considered for the thousand dollar award.
Awesome Foundation trustee Andrew Button says this has never happened before.
“We only send the trustees the name of the project, the description and what they would do with the thousand dollars. So unless they’ve indicated who they are in the description, the trustees have no idea who is pitching this idea.”
Button says the foundation wanted to do something a little different this time and were looking for the craziest, most off-the-wall idea.
“It is one of the pillars of the awesome foundation. It’s not just to do the warm and cuddly, feel-good kind of projects, which are awesome. But, it’s also to have a little bit of fun and not take things so seriously all the time. That’s just as awesome.”
Carver did come away with the Awesome Foundation’s thousand dollars for his plan to build a twitter powered bubble machine.
The machine would blow a bubble for someone if they tweeted at the machine.
Button says the foundation is accepting applications for their next award which will be handed out September 27th.
