The Nova Scotia Health Authority says repairs are essentially complete to areas of Yarmouth Regional Hospital, building B.
That’s where damage was caused by a flood in December 2016 when a pipe burst in the roof of the building sending a deluge of water down into the basement.
The Authority says there are still a few remaining items that need to be addressed, but plans to move relocated offices and services back to their original locations are on schedule.
The target dates for movers to return furniture, equipment and files back to their original locations is Wednesday, July 26 to Saturday, July 29.
Patients and the public are asked to please use caution in and around Yarmouth Regional Hospital during this time because there will be large moving trucks and increased activity associated with the move.
There is still plenty of planning, cleaning and moving to do before staff can return to their original offices and spaces. Areas on all six levels of building B that have been repaired are now being thoroughly cleaned up to meet infection prevention and control standards. Since many items have been in storage some additional cleaning will need to take place after all furniture and equipment is moved back in to their original locations.
The public is reminded the elevators in building B and central stairway (directly across from Ambulatory Care registration desk) will remain closed and off-limits to staff and the public until all moves are complete, but they can be used in an emergency.
Programs and services that have been moved, including doctor’s offices (see list below), will remain in their temporary locations until the return move is complete. If patients or the public have questions about the location of their appointment, please call the program, service or doctor’s office directly.
