The disappearance of the five man crew of the Miss Ally is the focus of a new book.
Author Quentin Casey of Mahone Bay wrote ‘The Sea Was in their Blood.’
The Miss Ally was fishing off the coast of Nova Scotia when their spotlight malfunctioned.
The 12 metre Cape Islander from Woods Harbour was delayed as it tried to get back to shore and got caught in a winter storm that included hurricane force winds and waves over 10 metres high.
The Miss Ally foundered on February 17, 2013 and five men – Katlin Nickerson, Billy Jack Hatfield, Joel Hopkins, Cole Nickerson and Tyson Townsend – were never found.
Members of the crew’s family and friends, rescue personnel and the fishing community were interviewed for the book which will be launched Thursday evening at 6:30 at the Halifax Central Library.
