RCMP are mourning the loss of Constable Amanda Swinimer.
The 37-year old died on February 28th after a battle with breast cancer.
Born in St. Anthony Newfoundland, Swinimer became a member of the RCMP in 2000.
She and her husband, Kelvin have been stationed in Lunenburg since 2008.
Staff Sergeant Stephen MacQueen says Swinimer was a strong person.
“She fought the cancer with a determination that I’ve never seen before. She’s a small in stature girl, but she’s tough and optimistic.”
Books of condolences have been set up in the lobbies of the Chester, Cookville, and Lilydale Detachments.
Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday from 7 to 9 pm at the Mahone Funeral Home in Mahone Bay.
An RCMP ceremonial funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Monday, March 6, at Aenon Baptist Church in Chester Basin.
