The 10th anniversary of Corporal Paul Davis’ death was marked today at Bridgewater Junior-Senior High.
Davis was killed March 2, 2006 while on patrol in Afghanistan.
Students, military personnel, and the town’s mayor were on hand for a short ceremony at Davis’ plaque and red maple tree.
Davis’ father, Jim, says the monument holds significant meaning to him.
“When I look at Paul’s tombstone at his gravesite, he’s not there, I know he’s not. But when I come to this monument, I talk to him, I feel him.”
Davis says he can’t believe its been 10 years since his son’s death.
He says he frequently visits the plaque and red maple tree.
They were planted and unveiled in 2014.
Paul Davis was a student at Bridgewater Junior-Senior High School.
He says events like today show his son didn’t die in vain.
