A collection of stories to get you in the Hallowe’en spirit.
Ghost Stories of Nova Scotia is the latest work by local author Vernon Oickle of Queens County.
It tells of plenty of South Shore folklore and legends including Dexter’s Tavern in Liverpool.
Oickle says it’s been around since the 1700s and is said to have several ghosts including a French soldier.
“The whole history of Dexter’s Tavern here in Liverpool is quite fascinating and stories have been around for awhile for that property. I think in terms of most famous, that may be the most famous.”
The book features other stories involving the Loyalist Inn in Shelburne and Lunenburg Academy.
There are other local entries from Mill Village, White Point and Chester.
