The Barrington Municipal Arena could have a familiar name attached to it.
Sandy Wickens of Bear Point passed away in June at age 78.
He volunteered for more than 40 years coaching hockey and baseball in Shelburne County.
Warden Eddie Nickerson says a resident suggested to name the arena after Wickens.
“He taught a lot of kids including myself a lot about the game of hockey. I think it is a fitting thing to do in his memory.”
The facility would be renamed the ‘Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena.’
Council will make a final decision on the matter at their September 28 meeting.
