Chester’s Mary Fay and her curling team have been recognized by the Nova Scotia Curling Association.
The group named Fay’s squad as team of the year during its 11th annual Celebration of Excellence ceremony.
The team’s coach, Andrew Atherton, also received the coach of the year award.
The team captured a silver medal at this year’s Canada Winter Games, finished fourth at nationals and repeated as under-21 provincial junior champions.
They were also a finalist for Sport Nova Scotia’s Ricoh Award for team of the year.
However, it was won by Genevieve Orton and Una Lounder in Canoe-Kayak.
