Mary Fay of Chester is a world champion.
Fay skipped team Canada to the gold medal at the World Junior Curling Championship after a 7-4 win this morning over the United States.
Canada scored two in the third, sixth and eighth ends and stole a point in the ninth end to help clinch the victory.
The win is historic as no Nova Scotia team has ever won the women’s World Junior Curling Championship.
Korea topped Hungary 8-4 in the bronze medal game.
The gold medal caps off a fantastic season for the Fay team, which also won national and provincial titles.
The 17 year-old Fay also won gold last month at the Youth Winter Olympic Games in Norway.
