Yarmouth scored five times in the final frame en-route to another win and a 6-0 start to the season.
Matt Barron, Matt Smith, Matthew Warner, Andrew Martell and Duncan McKie all scored on Jacks goalie Justin Ritcey, who made 24 saves.
McKie also had an assist and fought Jacks forward Max Robitaille in the third period to complete the ‘Gordie Howe hat-trick.”
The Mariner defenseman says a score was settled between he and Robitaille.
“We had a little bit of a beef going on for the suspension I got on him in the preseason. I texted him after the game and we’re all good now. It was a good fight, I respect him for fighting me.”
The only South Shore goal was scored by Cody Grant late in the third.
The Lumberjacks lost for the third time in five games to open the season.
Lumberjacks Head Coach Kyle McAllister says his team has not played a full 60 minutes all season.
“Some night we’re not competing at all, we’re not winning the battles. A lot of shots on net don’t matter if they don’t go in the net. We have a lot of work to do, but it’s just those little things. Sometimes they have to decide if they want to do them or not.”
The Jacks host Dieppe on Thursday, before the Mariners welcome the Commandos to Yarmouth on Friday.
