Four communities on Cape Sable Island will get new or improved Internet.
The federal government is investing $642,000 for upgrades in The Hawk, South Side, Stoney Island and Newellton to help them get online with high-speed Internet.
South Shore-St. Margarets MP Bernadette Jordan was at Clark's Harbour town hall today to make the announcement.
Jordan says rural connectivity is vital.
"We have to make sure that we're able to compete on the world stage, especially in places like this where they'll selling lobster all around the world. We need to have reliable access to Internet."
Then, in Birchtown, Shelburne County, Jordan announced $400,000 for Internet improvements in Gunning Cove, Roseway, Ingomar, and North East Harbour.
The government's 'Connect to Innovate' program is a $500 million country-wide investment in high-speed Internet.
Jordan says her riding received $6.5 million for Internet improvements in total.
